The role of Business Unit Procurement Lead is to make sure that business needs of the Business Unit (EE) are translated into Procurement strategies and Procurement strategies are embedded into business strategies with a clear objective to drive top- and bottom-line growth. This position manages the partnership between Marketing, Sales, Finance, Spend Areas, RDQ, ISC and Leadership teams at both BU and regional level, collaborates with global Spend Area teams, CPRMs and specific project teams (e.g. Supply Chain Reinvention).

Acts as a challenger driving continuous improvement of COGS and simplification from E2E, drives alignment of the productivity pipeline across all Spend Areas (GOGs + indirect) to meet BU targets.

Supports the development and implementation of standardized ways of working, adopting those to BU specifics applying best practice with regards to margin management, governance and project implementation

Manages, and develop the team of Local Procurement Representatives (LPR) as well as coach Spend Area representatives dedicated to the BU.

REPORT TO: Regional Procurement Lead (Switzerland based).


Ensure linkage and alignment between BU stakeholders, Spend Area teams, CPRM and regional senior management:

  • Understand and communicate BU specific needs and priorities to Procurement stakeholders so that they get addressed in relevant sourcing strategies (including SRM, BCP, and supplier requirements);
  • Understand and communicate Spend Area needs in order to obtain commercial buy-in and incorporate accordingly in the BU business strategies.

Implement OpCo margin improvement initiatives:

  • Develop, together with R&D and Spend Area teams, a multiyear margin improvement agenda;
  • Manage sufficiency and robustness of productivity pipeline including initiatives to fill and strengthen the pipeline;
  • Collaborate with R&D and ISC to develop margin improvement programs with the focus on reformulation and complexity reduction;
  • Coordinate prioritization of projects and resources as part of margin management process;
  • Coordinate execution of productivity projects and mobilize adequate cross functional resources;
  • Collaborate with R&D and ISC to establish and control the most effective resource allocation and timely execution;
  • Push for standardized trial- and testing protocols;
  • Deal with any roadblocks and escalate within the BU or/and Categories for resolution.

Secure Business Continuity:

  • Obtain regular BU  approval for recommended business continuity programs (BCP) for most critical suppliers and materials;
  • Mobilize R&D and ISC resources for developing supply alternatives;
  • Initiate, or on request lead, special situation teams to resolve out-of-stock (OOS) or material supply issues resulting in significant negative P&L impact.

People Management:

  • Lead the local Procurement Representative team members in accordance with the Mondelēz International management principles to support the organization's overall leadership focus on performance and talent management, values, management and self-management practices;
  • Support or deepen people’s growth and development of their roles to become experts within their area and business process owners (acquiring necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with operations and personal development needs);
  • Coach people in their development to become a valuable partner inspiring trust;
  • Know the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position; 
  • Lead ethically and model compliant behavior;
  • Maintain an environment where employees can speak up without fear of retaliation;
  • Ensure employees in the area of responsibility understand the compliance responsibilities of their jobs and actively participate in the compliance program.

Support Growth:

  • Responsible Procurement representative in BU PAMs/MORs;
  • Drive BU innovation planning with Leadership team;
  • Ensure Procurement involvement in regional growth and innovation projects by obtaining project charters and linking with Procurement Innovation Managers (PIM's) or Spend Area teams to mobilize Procurement support;
  • Challenge pro-actively the make or buy decisions of the Business Unit for External Manufacturers regionally.

Stakeholder management:

  • Acts as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the Procurement function for key stakeholders at a plant, country, and regional level;
  • Primary interface with BU Leadership team, regional Procurement Leadership team and global functions for the across regions projects.


  • Master degree: preferably in business administration or commerce or relevant combination of formal qualifications and additional specialized study
  • Minimum 5-10 years of ISC experience
  • Proven track record in procurement (experience of running direct/indirect procurement for a country, or a category within a business is a plus)
  • Solid people management skills, ability to build effective teams and motivate others              
  • Strategic thinking and strategic agility, multi-tasking and priority setting, ability to deal with ambiguity  
  • Proven leadership skills, stakeholder management and influencing
  • E2E business experience: EE procurement experience plus some non-procurement experience is a plus
  • Experience with other industries (non FMCG) and international experience is a plus
  • Supplier Relationship Management           
  • Good Negotiation skills
  • Sourcing Strategy Development  
  • Fluent English and Russian languages is a must
